Saint Francis Service Dogs employs expert, motivated dog trainers to assume contract dog training positions as Field Trainers.
Dogs enter the training program at approximately 12-15 months months and live in the homes of Field Trainers. Saint Francis Service Dogs also employs Staff Trainers who train a string of dogs at the Saint Francis Service Dog Training Center. As our Center and services expand, other Staff Trainers will be hired.
Field trainers are responsible for teaching basic service dog task work or hearing work, attend public demonstrations and weekly training classes. Field trainers are also responsible for partner matching and travel to and from partners' homes throughout Virginia. Obedience experience is required for Saint Francis Service Dogs training and service dog training experience is preferred. Trainers who have volunteered at Saint Francis are given priority consideration.
